RULES OF THE DANCE

Each entrant must pick the full draw and each correct game pick earns points – increasing points as the tournament progresses. Further, the Big Dance Pool awards bonus points for correctly selecting an underdog in any game. To receive bonus points, you need not have picked the correct pairing so long as you pick an underdog and the correct winner. The bonus points awarded will be equal to the seeding spread between the teams throughout the draw, although the value of an upset pick will not increase in later rounds, i.e. a #6 over a #3 in the final game is worth the same three bonus points as if it occurred in an earlier round. (If you’re confused, you’re an ideal candidate for the Big Dance Pool.)

Example 1: Jerry picks Alabama (#15 seed) over Kentucky (#7 seed) in a 2nd Round game.
If Alabama beats the higher seeded team (lower seed number), then Jerry would be awarded 2 points for a 2nd round game and 8 points for the difference in the seed numbers between the teams that played. So if Alabama instead beats Arizona (#10 seed), Jerry would be awarded 5 points.

Example 2: Jerry picks SW Missouri St (#12 seed) over Wisconsin (#5 seed) in a 1st Round game.
SW Missouri St wins. Jerry would be awarded 1 point for a 1st round game and 7 points for the difference in the seed numbers.

Example 3: Jerry picks Delaware (#13 seed) over Tennessee (#4 seed) in a 1st Round game.
Tennessee wins. Jerry gets no points.

Example 4: Jerry picks SW Missouri St (#12 seed) over Delaware (#13 seed) in a 2nd round game.
SW Missouri St (#12 seed) instead plays Tennessee (#4 seed) in the 2nd Round game, and SW Missouri St wins. Jerry would be awarded 2 points for a 2nd round game but no points for the difference in seed numbers. Jerry receives no underdog points because he did not pick an upset on his sheet.

Example 5: Jerry picks ETSU (#16 seed) over Tennessee (#9 seed) in a 2nd round game.
ETSU (#16 seed) instead plays Oklahoma St (#8 seed) in the 2nd Round game, and ETSU wins. Jerry would be awarded 2 points for a 2nd round game and 8 points for the difference in the seed numbers of the teams that actually played.
